Florbella's mother was burdened
with the name Berta Bitterbutter.
She had tried to find a man to change
her name, but no one wanted to marry her
because of her miserable character.
So she thought about becoming a famous actress.
This desire was also not crowned with success.
She was pelted with tomatoes,
which evoked a vague memory
of Florabella's childhood.
One day, as she looked at her
(in her eyes) ugly daughter,
she had a completely new idea:
She could market her daughter's ugliness,
and maybe her poems would even bring
money into the household budget.
From that day on, she became interested
in Florabella’s poems,
which did not make Florabella’s
life any easier.
